Amex Platinum: First Steps After Receiving Your Card

The Amex Platinum has long been considered the premium travel card on the market and can offer tremendous value, more than enough to make up for its $695 annual fee. While purchasing airfare directly with an airline earns 5x points is fantastic, as is the typically high sign-up bonus amounts, there is so much more to the card and its benefits.

Benefits Page
Once the Platinum has been added to your Amex account, the first stop should be the Benefits page where you may find many of the added perks and amenities the Platinum card comes with. Many of these require enrollment before you can take advantage, so be sure to check each one to ensure you're good to go. Here are some of the best perks that come with your Amex Platinum:

  • $200 annual airline credit

    • This credit is typically meant for incidental purchases (seat selection, checked baggage, priority boarding, etc.), but we have a loophole to turn it into Southwest or United airfare. Reach out to Wealth@TravelWealth.com to learn how!

  • $200 Uber credit

    • $15 per month, except December ($35)

    • To receive the Uber credit, simply add your Amex Platinum to the Payment section of your Uber account.

  • $200 annual hotel credit

    • Only eligible through Amex Travel’s Fine Hotels & Resorts (1-night minimum) or Hotel Collection (2-night minimum)

  • Access the Global Lounge Collection, including Centurion Lounges and Delta SkyClubs

  • Automatic top-tier Hertz President’s Circle status

  • $25 per month Equinox statement credit

  • $20 monthly digital entertainment credit towards Disney+, a Disney Bundle, ESPN+, Hulu, The New York Times, Peacock, SiriusXM, and The Wall Street Journal subscriptions

  • $50 bi-annual Saks Fifth Avenue statement credit

  • $155 Walmart+ Credit

  • Hilton Gold Status

  • Marriott Gold Status

  • $179 CLEAR statement credit

  • Global Entry statement credit

Even beyond these great benefits, there is still more to the Amex Platinum: shopping and travel protection, primary rental car coverage, Amex Offers, and access to Amex's Fine Hotels and Resorts program.

We are always here to help navigate your new Amex Platinum and all it has to offer. Feel free to reach out to Wealth@TravelWealth.com to discuss the card and how best to leverage its benefits to your maximum advantage.
